Through the recently finalized Uruguay Solar and Storage Project, GSEP and members Hydro-Québec and Enel X collaborated with local partners to install the first behind-the-meter energy storage system paired with solar panels in Uruguay. The project’s replicability report demonstrated that such technologies have massive potential to generate savings and enhanced energy security for local communities in the region and beyond.
In 2023, GSEP will support 17 exceptional master’s students from developing countries as they further their education in fields related to sustainable energy development. They will join an impressive cohort of 163 other students and energy professionals who have received Education for Sustainable Energy Development scholarships since the program’s inception in 2001.
The 2023 Student Symposium marked the conclusion of the 2022-2023 edition of the Young Ambassadors for Global Electrification program, which connects our scholarship recipients to opportunities for professional development as they launch their careers in the energy sector.
